Shelby Bussells is a Supervisee in Social Work in the state of Virginia working towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Shelby earned a B.S. in Sociology with minors in Public Health and Gender Studies from Shenandoah University in 2020 and a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022.

Shelby had been providing a range of psychological services since entering the field in 2020. These services include: jail-based biopsychosocial assessments, jail-based individual therapy, jail-based crisis intervention services, bereavement therapy, and individual outpatient therapy. Shelby has obtained several certifications including Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) and Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART).

Shelby’s approach to therapy is person centered to create an empowering and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. She utilizes a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. Historically, she has worked with individuals to manage anxiety, depression, trauma related stressors, grief, substance use, and personality disorders. Shelby works with adolescents and adults and provides services remotely.
